Minimization of antibiotic use in Bavarian aquaculture through the use of autogenous vaccines

01.11.2020

The Chair has received funding from the StMELF to partner with LfL/IFI Starnberg and TGD on the MABVAC (use full name) project to benefit Bavarian aquaculture from 2020-2023. Introduction of autogenous vaccines in the salmonid (Char) production systems is expected to enhance overall biosecurity of fish farms in Bavaria. The expected outcome of the MABVAC project is improved prevention and control of bacterial diseases, increased productivity, reduced animal suffering, and minimized use of antibiotics. Veterinarians and fish farmers will be trained in biosecurity, with focus on benefits of autogenous vaccines use in routine farm management work
